Arbitrary Time Signature And Beam Grouping

The button (Icon) you will find in the toolbar category < Meter >.

Place the cursor into the bar, from which the new time signature is in force. Afterwards, click on the corresponding button (Icon). Following dialogue opens:

You can either alter the time signature exactly for one bar here, or generally alter the time signature until start of the next part (over the option on the bottom of this dialogue: "overwrites  all time signatures of this part ").

With the grouping-statement, you determine the beam grouping and statement for note-values. For example, there is the possibility of the three groupings with a 7/8-Time signature: 3+2+2 or 2+3+2 or 2+2+3. The sum of the group-values must correspond to the time signature's counter, otherwise the dialogue will not allow to confirm this!

(Example: in the 7/8 time with 2, 3, 2 eighth of groups 2 + 3 + 2 + 0 = 7).

If you use harmony-analysis module, the grouping has also impacts on the statement of a harmonic analysis.

If you want to delete a time signature, click on the same-named button (Icon) in the dialogue.

The time signature's indication lets suppress as well as force itself in which the automation is switched off!

If you want to have more music in one bar than possible to be represented, (for example with a cadenza) please check the option "more notes possible" in the above dialogue. You get a free bar!

Also, the dialogue can be opened through the double-click at the time signature in the stave.
